ARTS LEADERSHIP:REVIEW
Project review:
We managed to create the documentary and all are really pleased with the final product. The part of our original plan that worked well were the daily to do lists and how we communicated as a team. We all worked really well together to produce the best documentary we could and all really helped motivate each other when one person may have felt a bit less productive. Things that worked less well were possibly our organisation skills, because although we were all punctual when meeting we still missed the deadline, so we could have organised our time a bit more to give ourselves more time to edit as then we would have been less rushed.
My leadership skills have developed a lot; I learnt so much from being in such an intense environment. I would say the most important skill I will take away is the ability to be able to notice when different members of your team or even yourself are flagging, and just being able to help them through that period of time with either an offer of a cup of tea or a helping hand. This I think is a very important skill for a leader to have as it will maximise the productivity and happiness of the team members.
The thing I have enjoyed most about doing the challenge is the people and connections I have made. It will be invaluable to have a network of such talented filmmakers within my local area; as well as some contacts with industry professionals. Furthermore, just being in a more realistic film making environment was really fun and has confirmed my passion for entering the industry myself.
Things that I have found challenging are the pressure of the short time frame, as it was sometimes very stressful and made it hard to be productive, but I think this is something that can be combated with more experience.
