My Arts Challenge

Hey !!

On this blog I am going to be posting about my Arts Challenge! This will include all sorts of stuff form master classes to production week, within which we will create our own 5 minute film or documentary.

What is my challenge?

My challenge is going to be split into two sections : personal and professional.

My professional challenge is to find more out about the role of producer. I have chosen this because it is a role that is obviously so crucial to film making as it is always credited at the very beginning, but I do not actually know the slightest bit about what is involved within it, therefore I think it would be a beneficial thing to look into to deepen my understanding of the industry whilst gaining a new skillset. I would also like to look into editing as well, to give myself a more rounded knowledge of the film process

My personal challenge is going to be learning how to be confident in my ideas and how to get them across in a constructive way. I find that I often won't share my viewpoint or ideas for worry that they will be bad and not worth using, or if I do it will be followed with a 'don't worry if that is a rubbish idea though' rather than just being confident in them. Therefore as part of my arts challenge I would like to be able to learn how to share my ideas in a group environment in a constructive way, so that they are heard but so I do not try and over power other people in the process of doing that. I have chosen this because I think that it is very important to be able to put yourself and your ideas to progress, and at the moment it is what hinders me the most in moving forwards.

I will know when I have achieved my arts award when I can define and list the things involved with the rile of producer, and when I have had some more experience with editing. For the personal one I will know when I feel more confident when sharing my ideas, which is going to be a gradual process. I think for both of my challenges it will take time over the course of the film academy to achieve them, as they involve actively doing the role to fully complete.

I think I will need help from the tutors and leaders of the master classes for professional challenges, but for the personal more help from my peers as they are who I will be sharing my ideas with.

The targets I set to complete my challenge I will do at the beginning of each master class / production day so I can really specify the area I would like to develop on in that day to aid me in small steps towards the overall goal.
